The Indian Industrial Organization is a group within which workers from different backgrounds work and the way these organizations work has changed over time. Nowadays, organizations are more integrated and interconnected than before, due to which a person must work in other functions besides his functions. As an example, the role of an engineer is changing rapidly in the organization over time and sometimes he must involve or give his contribution in such a managerial role. It would not be wrong to say that it is the responsibility of the education system to prepare any employee to face such situations and this is the reason why a Master’s degree is being promoted more in today’s education system. Working in this direction, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken an initiative within which students residing there can get admission in master’s degree courses in good institutes and to bring this idea from paper to reality, an exam, which is AP ICET (Andhra Pradesh Integrated Common Entrance Test) is conducted as an action plan, through which admission can be possible.
If we look at the last two decades, it is clear that how the trend of technical education has increased very fast and has started touching the heights but in the last few years, along with technical education, the demand for master’s degree has also increased very fast, especially for MBA (Master of Business Administration) and MCA (Master of Computer Application). Following the trend, the Andhra Pradesh government decided to conduct an exam at the state level to ensure that none of their students are left behind in any way in the field of education, in which admission will be possible in the master’s degree courses of MCA & MBA, inside of the state universities and their affiliated colleges on a merit basis.
AP ICET falls under the authority of the AP SCHE (Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education) and is conducted by Sri Venkateswara University Tirupati on their behalf. For the year 2020, the application form has been already released on 3 March through online mode, whose exam is to be held on April 27 and to fill the form, each student has to make the payment of 550/- as application fee and in last, the result is supposed to be declared on 6 May. But due to the lockdown for the COVID19 outbreak in India, these dates can be extended further. This exam is completely offline, and its duration is two hours and 30 minutes, within which 200 objective-based questions are asked. Talking about the eligibility criteria, students should have at least 50% marks for General/OBC and 45% for reserved categories in their bachelor’s degree course or equivalent course, and more details are available on their official website.
As a result of the Telangana movement, on 2 June 2014 Telangana has declared a state after seceding from the north-western part of Andhra Pradesh under the united progressive alliance by the Central government and became the 29th state of India. After the establishment of the new state, they needed to establish their state-level education system and for that, they followed the structure of the Andhra Pradesh education system to a large extent. To remain at the national level, they too adopted everything that was going on in the current trend in the education world and decided to conduct an entrance exam, TSICET (Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test) for admission in the course of MBA and MCA at the state level universities and affiliated colleges. Every year the exam is conducted by Kakatiya University, Warangal on behalf of TSCHE (Telangana State Council of Higher Education) and ensures that the admission of the students is completely on a merit basis.
For the year 2020, the online registration process has started on its official website and still in process for admission in 273 colleges across the Telangana where the candidate has to pay 650/- from General/OBC and 450 from SC/ST category as an application fee. The examination will be conducted in online mode at 14 centres on 20 and 21 May with the exam duration of 150 minutes. Bur here too, the dates may extend further due to the lockdown in India. The eligibility criteria of TSICET is the same as AP’s entrance exam.
All this is clearly showing, how India is adopting the changes in the trend of education system happening at the global level and competing at the global level according to the demand of worldwide economies.
